So last night was the bonfire to open up Homecoming Week. I must say, this year’s bonfire went very well! Not to say that last years didn’t go well, but there was an absolute MOB of people trying to get their FREE T-SHIRT! It’s a T-Shirt people! You’ll get 50 more of them in your time here…trust me, I know. I’ll take a photo of all the free t-shirts I got from UIS in my four years here. It’s difficult to maneuver around taking photos with a large camera and everyone is pushing and shoving their way around you just to get a t-shirt…Sorry, a little rant there…I’m done though.

But yes, this year’s bonfire went very well. The fire was going good for a while, but people stole all the chocolate, so they ran out of stuff for s’mores. That goes to show you, the early bird gets the worm (or s’more in this case). The more important reason for the bonfire was to announce homecoming court and have a good time. I would say that a good time was had by all! Here are some photos from the event!

Roaring Bonfire

The long poles are meant to ruin my shots…

Chilaxin’ by the fire.

And yes…there were people swinging from trees.
P.S. That’s my custom SSU t-shirt I made for last years homecoming (10th year as UIS)

I don’t know about everyone else, but I’m looking forward to tonight! I hope I don’t play suck too bad playing basketball…Come out to the NEW UIS Gymnasium (no longer the Assembly Closet) and cheer on your favorite basketball team tonight at 7:00 p.m!

Also, don’t forget about the other events going on today…the Alumni SAGE Society Lunch and Learn program in the “Of Time and the Mississippi” series that starts in one minute(11:30 a.m.) in the PAC Restaurant, the Entreprenureship Challenge in the LRH Great Room from 3 to 7, and then the Neo-Futurists at 9 p.m. in the Brooken’s Auditorium!

P.S. I’m playing on the Alumni/Faculty/Staff team…you should holler for us and your favorite blogger!
